Use of brand name in URL leads to confusion.
The Question A well known consumer brand was concerned that inclusion of its name in diverse web site addresses could lead to confusion for consumers. Findtech was asked to investigate historical tights prior to deciding what action should be taken.

Investigation of the websites concerend showed a clear division between those sites using the brand name as a convenient hook for consumers and those with serious claim to historical rights. In the latter case further investigation showed that two of the sites were associated with businesses which had been using the brand name within their own business since the eighteenth century. On the basis of this the client was able to taylor its actions to each case individually.
